LIVING
IN HOBART
With a population of less than 50,000, Hobart is one of the world's smallest cities.
The city, with a vibrant range of restaurants and popular shopping, is built on a beautiful natural deep port that is still the focus of commercial activity in Hobart. The port is fully operational and plays host to cargo ships, Antarctic supply vessels, fishing boats and a variety of leisure boats.
Hobart's port is perhaps most famous as the destination of one of the worlds most challenging yacht races, the Sydney to Hobart, which starts each year on Boxing Day.
As Australia's second oldest city, Hobart is well known for its heritage buildings, beautiful parks, and gracious Georgian and Victorian architecture.
The joy of living in Hobart extends beyond the city itself to the beauty of Tasmania natural heritage and the state's delightful edible bounty such as salmon, crayfish, cheeses, raspberries, strawberries, beer and chocolates.
