ADELAIDE
PLACES TO LIVE
Inner North and East have both historical charm and social prestige, featuring many of Adelaide's earliest colonial buildings, as well as a sizable student population. These suburbs are rich with boutique shopping, restaurants and quality nightspots.
Inner West extends from central Adelaide to the popular beach side suburbs of Henley and Glenelg and nearly 30 sandy beaches along the western coastline.
South are the upmarket inner city suburbs, with antique and designer fashion stores, restaurants, cafes and some of the city's best government and private schools.
Outer southern suburbs are growing in popularity, offering the dual benefits of a semi-rural lifestyle close to excellent swimming beaches. This area is still a reasonable commute to the centre of Adelaide.
Adelaide Hills to the east and south of the city are particularly popular with families, with natural bushland, extensive national parks and easy access to the city.
North of the city are the older industrial suburbs, including Elizabeth, home of the infamous Aussie rock band AC/DC. There are many reasonably priced, large family homes.
