BUSINESS DRESS

Dress standards vary between workplaces and even between departments, so it is always best to confirm dress standards with your employer.

For men, ties, suits and jackets are usually expected during business hours. Women also wear suits although it is not always expected.

In the summer months and tropical climates of the north, dress is often more informal, and colour preferences tend to move from predominantly black and neutral colours in Melbourne to lighter and brighter shades as your move north past Sydney and west past Adelaide.

Many organisations have a 'casual Friday' policy and employees are free to wear weekend outfits.

WHAT THE LOCALS SAY
The things people where to work these days constantly surprises me. I do prefer a more casual dress, but I wonder if there should be classes for some people who just get it so wrong !
